More Studies

More studies from Seminar. Just experimenting with composition and brush stroke. My next step is to make a larger version of the same type of investigation. These range from 6 x 6 inches to 4 x 4 inches.

Finally new stuff!

So, sorry for never posting on here, my summer has been busy with working as a waitress and me not finding mush time to paint.

I figured I'd give you some photos of the work I ended my semester with, the three final (and most successful) paintings from my painting 3 workshop class.

Enjoy!

I worked on this one for about 6 weeks, it started much different and then I had an epiphany about my work and the direction I was going and it ended up being this.

This was the piece that helped me have the epiphany, as it came in the middle of the first one as a "side project." Now, I think its one of my best pieces

This is the last painting I got the chance to begin before the semester ended. I don't think that it's finished, but I can see how my editing skills are improving.

Painting Workshop

Here are some pieces that I started in Painting workshop in preparation for Senior Seminar. Both are in progress

I had a hard time with this painting, it was not doing what I wanted it to, and the color relationships were not working for a while. I know what I want to do with it now, since I've been staring at it for weeks, so now I just need to do it!

I did this small painting as a result of frustration with the first painting and I like the limited color palette more, I think it aids my goal much better than using every single color under the sun. I plan to continue in this way for the next few paintings.

My theme for this class is painting experiences through the use of color and shape. I take a lot of inspiration from Joan Mitchell and Cecily Brown. I started this semester thinking my whole series was going to be about the relationships of color within gardens, and places I've been. I realized recently that the places I picture in my mind are important because of an experience I had there, so I'm focusing more on the feeling and using the environment as my color inspiration.

Finally an update! Monoprints!

Hi everyone, sorry for the absence, I've been pretty busy this semester with work and school and life. I am packing up to go home for Spring Break tomorrow and thought I'd take a few photos of the prints I recently did in Mono printing. Enjoy!

Mono with Chine' Colle

These two were my first color prints, going to work on them some more.
