Painting Workshop

Here are some pieces that I started in Painting workshop in preparation for Senior Seminar. Both are in progress

I had a hard time with this painting, it was not doing what I wanted it to, and the color relationships were not working for a while. I know what I want to do with it now, since I've been staring at it for weeks, so now I just need to do it!

I did this small painting as a result of frustration with the first painting and I like the limited color palette more, I think it aids my goal much better than using every single color under the sun. I plan to continue in this way for the next few paintings.

My theme for this class is painting experiences through the use of color and shape. I take a lot of inspiration from Joan Mitchell and Cecily Brown. I started this semester thinking my whole series was going to be about the relationships of color within gardens, and places I've been. I realized recently that the places I picture in my mind are important because of an experience I had there, so I'm focusing more on the feeling and using the environment as my color inspiration.

Hi everyone, sorry for the absence, I've been pretty busy this semester with work and school and life. I am packing up to go home for Spring Break tomorrow and thought I'd take a few photos of the prints I recently did in Mono printing. Enjoy!

Altered Book

This is my Altered Book project. I took images and titles from a book I found that was copyrighted 1888. The stories in the book we're strange, as we're a lot of the titles, and the plates we're amazing. So I cut out a bunch of the plates I liked, and the titles I liked, and made my own little weird story.

Part/Whole Book

This books theme was "Parts/Whole" So I made a book of small little cards of animals that live in "packs"

Revelation Book

This is a small book, maybe 2"x3". The theme of this book was "Revelation", I decided to create a book "revealing" all of the bad things that have happened in my life over the past year. Needless to say, it's a very emotional little book, but one of my favorite ones.
